As I hung out at the house and handed out candy to the trick or treaters this evening, I caught quite a bit of the PowerShares Championship at Sherwood Country Club.
Sherwood is a beautiful layout, really enjoyed watching Tiger's World Challenge event there each year back when they hosted it. It just appears to have an aesthetic quality to it that really appeals to my eye.
Anyway... I'm amazed at just how good some of these guys still are post-50. You take away the need to hit 300-yard tee shots - several of those guys can still control the ball as good (maybe even better) than they did when they were 20 years younger.
There's also something enjoyable watching guys figuring out a way to play great golf despite not hitting the ball as far as they used to. Tom Pernice Jr. is 57 years old, can't ever recall him doing much back when he played on the regular tour... won a couple events, maybe. No bogeys, 8 birdies today. The guy hits it 280 yards off the tee. Brandt Jobe, Olin Browne, Rocco Mediate, Monty, etc - these guys still have a lot of game.
To be honest - I think watching the older guys play golf is much more enjoyable than watching the young guys, if for no other reason than the fact that their coverage shows a lot more full swings than putting.
