Typhoon I would do more checking into this health care thing. iirc, it was called "the AFFORDABLE care act". 😄
I couldn't even get it through our state system. Luckily, they also made employers open up to all employees, at the time of the act's passing. I was able to get on and it was cheap, dirt cheap.
I've passed up a few jobs in my life that would have been very nice, financially. But I would have been taking them just for the money, wasn't really my cups of tea, workwise. I took my last job as a 'fill in', while looking for something better. The work was good, I knew what the hell I was doing, and knew what to do before it needed done(or being asked/told to do so). So, the pay quickly increased, in big leaps, through the years. The vacation time was unheard of in the industry, and after 5 yrs. there, I found myself unable to give that portion of benefits up. Time went on, everything increased, and 19 yrs. had passed. It became the easiest job in life, and I loved going to work every day. I would still be there, most likely, if my boss had not died; I would never work for anyone else(the main reason I walked) as we had been together at 2 different places over a span of 24 yrs..
You have to do, what you have to do, and sometimes that is not what you want to do. But, life makes demands and sometimes we have to answer to them. I imagine it's a high COL out that way, what with the ins. rates you show. And we know, from your writings, how nice the situation is for you right now with the work part. BUT, you really do not know what the future work might be like, you are going off past experiences, and apparently, have a somewhat closed mind to that type work setting. You're probably going to end up taking the offer, so open your mind; the next group of co-workers may be a group you really enjoy seeing every morning.
