colej sdandrea1 just got my stitches removed in my right hand. I asked the doctor what I needed to do and she showed me some stretches. She basically said just the more you work it the better. I asked ; can I golf this weekend? She said as long as it doesn’t hurt, go for it!
sdandrea1 Surgery is 9 Oct. I'm going to have my surgeon talk to Jeff's (@colej) surgeon. My guy is saying 4 weeks recovery before golf. Screw that.................
sdandrea1 colej are you having both hands done at the same time? No issues/symptoms in my right hand. Just left.
colej sdandrea1 now that I’ve had both hands done I’ll say this; it feels like the first 12-18 hours are the worst for the pain. The pain level isn’t horrible but it does make it difficult to sleep. I’m a side sleeper and not a lie on my back sleeper. Get some extra pillows and prop your arm up when sitting or sleeping. Keep putting ice on it while elevated. Once your bandages come off (3 days later) start squeezing a soft ball or a dishrag. Stretch your hand out as long as there’s no pain. I’m 3 weeks in on my right and they seemed to think I’m doing great.
LBlack14 Honest to whatever maker you choose, my previous PCP used to do this surgery in his office, with a little local. Has it changed?
sdandrea1 LBlack14 Honest to whatever maker you choose, my previous PCP used to do this surgery in his office, with a little local. Has it changed? Not much. I get a local, but in an outpatient surgery center near his office. SWMBO takes me home. 20 minutes.
Rickochet colej Seeing the sharpie mark in the palm reminded me of when I had knee repair surgery. During the pre-surgery prep they put a big red sharpie mark X on the knee that was not the one to be worked on. 😛
sdandrea1 My guy does Open surgery, but he calls is a "mini" open. He says my incision will be about an inch.
