My Pings arrived yesterday afternoon, took them out for a spin today. Love 'em!
I bought 5-UW, figuring that if at some point next season I need to switch out the 22* hybrid with a 4-iron - I can simply use the G30 4-iron from my older set.
Really love the improved appearance at address... doesn't look bulky at all, thinner top line, and just a really confident looking club all the way around. The chrome finish on the backside of the sole is a definite upgrade as far as looks.
Wasn't sure what to expect with the stock factory steel shafts, but honestly I really couldn't sense much if any difference from the steel shafts that came stock with the G30s.
The feel at impact is definitely more solid, and although it's too early to tell at this stage of the season with the cooler temps and wind - I hit them noticeably further. I had 185 into a back hole location, water guarding the front of the green, into a 10+ mph breeze. I hit 5-iron to guard against going long (slight downhill lie) and couldn't believe how easy it was to get the ball into the air. The ball landed about 15 feet short of the pin and released just into the fringe, 12 feet away. I usually hit 5-iron about 170-175 yards, was expecting the shot to end up in the middle of the green with the hurting wind. They just really feel solid.
I'm hoping to get out again Sunday afternoon, but the weather looks really iffy. That's okay though, next week looks unseasonably warm and dry and I've got at least three more rounds to enjoy them in somewhat reasonable weather conditions.
The rest of my game sucked ass today, but I hit the irons great. Shot 79 with three double bogeys. It could've just as easily been 85, but thankfully my putter made up for some seriously shitty tee shots that put me way out of position on far too many occasions.
Gotta say it though - the PingG irons were much better than I thought they would be!
