backinit You have to spend about $120 to get loose real sand here
Our private club is corporately owned and the ownership has priorities messed up. No one understands his plans. He bought truckloads of sod from a club in Lawrence that closed 9 of their 36 holes to create space for luxury townhomes. He lost that 'investment' because of the lack of water and the grass died, the same as the fairways that became baren in spots because of the lack of water. Our course doesn't have any water so it has to be purchased from the city. Ka Ching.
But he got another hair-brained idea and that was to rebuild all of the sand traps and fill them with beautiful white sand. I love playing out of them...consistent, white powder. The members that have had trouble adjusting to them call it 'eye candy'. Other members are not so kind calling them 'lipstick on a pig'. I can't imagine the cost as no one can come up with a source even remotely close to Topeka. Man made maybe?
