Balls schmalls, I'm beginning to think they really don't matter, at least for my game. I just shot my best round of the year switching between 3 different balls a Cally Warbird, a Srixon true feel, soft feel, something, and a Titleist AVX I found along the way. I played whichever one I happened to pull out of my pocket. Only the Titleist would be considered a "better" ball. In tournaments I usually play a premium ball.assuming I have some, cause I don't buy them, but for casual rounds I'll play anything. The only real difference I notice is feel. I like a harder ball especially off the driver . My short game focuses on run out so I don't need hop and stop performance, except for maybe once a round where I get short sided. I have been staying away from softer balls since the MyGolfSpy test came out showing a soft ball is a slow ball, period, swing speed be damned. I had already noticed that from experience , noting that I get more distance from a high compression Pro V1x than any soft ball even though I don't swing much north of 90 if at all.
