Have a question on grip sizing. Referring to Maltby's chart below, it seems like he is differentiating between men's (M prefix) and women's (L prefix) grips to give the overall size of a "standard" grip is 0.90" and 0.85", respectively.
So how are we to know if grips these days are M or L, short of purchasing them? To be specific, I am thinking about purchasing a Sonar+ undersize grip (0.600" round according to Lamkin - ) to go on a 0.610" shaft. That probably comes close to my Sonar+ standard grip (0.600") on an 0.600" shaft (or maybe it needs 2 layers of build-up tape?) if it is an M60 grip, but not if it's an L60 grip.
Is this something you more experienced clubmakers have run across? Should I contact Lamkin to get further specifics?
