Canada loses in regulation and wins in OT. US winds up with more points but due to format of a tournament that didn't include Russia, Canada wins. No Matthew Tkachuk, Charlie McAvoy or Quinn Hughes. US was the better team in both games but better team doesn't always win in hockey.
I'm happy for Canadians. They needed this after not even getting out of the qualifying round of the World Juniors that featured no Russia and a very weak field in successive years. We know the US won gold in back to back tournaments.
Canadian hockey dominance is over.
If Brady scores in OT today is Friday in the US. When Canada wins it's like a national day of celebration which speaks to a complex Canadians have with the US.
