It's all about feel. I have a friend who prefers the soft Tour Wrap style, and although they feel great - they're also slicker than an eel if you're the type who sweats profusely during the summer months.
And it's also about endurance. Or better yet - how much golf you play too. I play 100+ rounds per year, not including the time spent at the range throughout the season. I've no other choice but to regrip my clubs at least twice per season, otherwise they're slick and worn out.
Sweaty hands are a fact of life for me in the summer, and the half-cord multi-compound grip just gives me a little more tack without sacrificing some means of a softer, rubbery grip. I can rough the cord up with a little sandpaper and get a little more life out of those grips, whereas with anything else - they're coming off and being replaced immediately.
In the fall/winter months, if I need to regrip - I'll go with Tour Velvets. But during the summer months - the multi-compounds just feel better to me.
