Played this afternoon at my normal course. They just punched and sanded the greens on the front 9. I had a total of 10 putts for the first 9 holes.... Most of this due to just missing the green and chipping close, or putting from just off the green (really small greens). Back 9 holes have not been punched yet and had 13 putts on that side. Hit a few more greens.

Shot 2 over par with only 23 putts total with Four 2 putts and Fourteen 1 putts. Sadly only had 3 birdies on the round.....

I actually preferred the punched greens as chips actually checked better then on the back 9 greens which hadn't been punched yet.

I may have had another day years ago with fewer putts, but it wouldn't be much fewer.

I think I once had 11 putts during my 9 hole league.

Wow! Nice score and nice putting!! All of my best scores have coincided with good putting rounds, but my best is
only 28 or 29 putts. Save the scorecard!!

21 , first round with a Seemore FGP.....unfortunately, that magic didnt stay

I'd be dangerous if I could putt. Shot 85 today with 42 putts. Even I'm not usually that bad though. Best I've ever had was 31 putts.

This was an aberration on this course for me. Tiff Eagle Bermuda greens that just don't seem to ever break the way they should. I swear I can putt the same putt 3 times and once it will go right, then left, then straight. They boggle my mind most of the time. Really the good putting round is attributed to a really good chipping day.

I have always used a pretty traditional stiff wrist back and through chipping motion, but could never get the feel right and would either decelerate or blast it by. Couple weeks ago started chipping with a very wristy motion with very little back swing at all. Chipped in for birdie last weekend and have burned a couple edges and left a few just short recently. I wish I could find the average size of the greens on this course, but most of them are less then 15 paces wide.

I've gone to this also and it's probably the best I've ever chipped. It's certainly not the preferred way by most but if it works... I'm also going to way less loft on chips more 7irons and less PW and LW.

I have no idea......never counted my putts. I do get my fair share of one-putts since I miss a lot of greens in regulation.....sometimes close enough to chip it close. I'm pretty good at NOT 3-putting on my home courses so I'm guessing I average better than 36. I'll try counting them and report back.......in case anyone cares.

When I started playing, I used the 6i for chips. Had a lot of hole-outs. Nowadays, have to use the 8i in order to get the same loft. Must be the shorter shaft, the reason those hole-outs have fairly disappeared. 😁

If I'm not chipping OVER anything, I get the ball on the putting surface as soon as possible and roll it to the hole. Lots of 7i and 8i chips, sometimes even a 6h.

When I play, I record the putts in the upper corner of the box where my score goes. A "1" if I one-putt,
a "3" if I three putt. If I 2 putt, I put nothing but the score. Easy, quick, efficient. I'm the only one who
cares, of course, but it gives me an idea of how I'm doing and what I need to improve.....

I could always recount them in my head. My formula for a good round was always 14 GIR and 28 putts.

Played 9 yesterday......forgot to count the putts. I do remember 3 one-putt pars, tho.

Counted putts today. 31 total. I think it was my personal best on this course. Shot 4 over par (74).
