Taki27 Unfortunately hoes gotta ho and I am back up to 8 shafts.
The unfortunate part is the fact you will need to try that many shafts, and still may not find what you are looking for. For every head on the market, there may be a dozen shafts. 50 heads would= 600 different shafts, and I don't think that's out of bounds in thought. Each shaft company will have their own way of testing and listing specs, etc.. To find any differences you'd need to take the shafts and have them profiled in order to weed out duplicates. Even then, same shafts from same companies will vary. The only way we have of finding what we want(I did not say 'what fits') is by self testing. But, you have to know exactly what it is you are wanting that shaft/head combo to do, when you swing it. A lot can be eliminated by that knowing, and by what the company says about the shaft. Otherwise, it's gonna get expensive as hell. But, to answer the question of how much does the shaft really matter...it means everything, imo.
