WTB: Ping i500 or gapr lo

Hey gents, the tinkering continues - looking for a ping i500 3 iron (power spec ideally) or a taylormade gapr lo 17 deg. Might be interested in a gapr mid 18 deg too. Heads only preferred and shipping would be to the west coast of canada if possible. Can the buzzers come through for me again?

You should look for a p790 2 or 3 iron. Much more common than the i500. Even the Taylormade MC UDI from a couple years ago. The GAPR line never really caught on.

Yeah, thought about that. I have a i500 4 iron in the bag and really like it so that's why i thought the 3 iron might be good. The gapr lo just looks so nice lol.

What about a PING Crossover? I have one maybe available....

I'm with typhoon, hated the crossover. I actually play the maltby ts1 irons, 5-gw. I was going to buy the matching 3 and 4 irons but thought the specs were no good- not enough gap between the 3 and 5 iron(5 degrees). So, got a 4 iron head from a buddy and they compliment the ts1 well, bigger head but not enough to put me off. The 4 iron is very forgiving and long as expected. Feel is nice on centre hits, feels hollow and clicky on mishits but distance is barely lost. I have a DG x200 ssx2 in it, same shaft as my ts1. The 4 iron plays like the ts1, it launches high and just goes. If you want high launch and more distance, the ts1 and the i500 are your clubs. I've added at last 10 yards to my irons and by the summer, I'm certain that my 7 iron will be my 200 yard club. The irons go almost too far- I'm flying greens now as i forget how long the clubs are. My buddy has a whole set of i500 and loves them. The only issue i see is when there's wind, but as long as you know how to flight your irons down, you're good because downwind the distance is unpredictable and against the wind, the high launch gets punished.

Oh God, I’m a Ping lover and I have to say the Ping Crossovers are awful. I can’t find one good thing to say about them. I know it’s my opinions though.

If you have the 4 iron i500 then by all means look for the 3. I have a set of Nike 4-A Vapor Pro Combos and I’ve thought of getting the 3 iron or the Speed 3 iron. Let me ask, how do you like the i500’s? I assume you have the whole set. How do they feel to you? I’ve only hit them indoors off mats and didn’t like the sound/feel. Also with the DG105 shaft it went nowhere.

That being said I still love the idea of them being a “players distance” iron and love the looks. I wish I could like them enough to want a set. What shaft do you have in them? One thing I’ve found is the 120 gram weight works better for me.

Interested in your take on them.

Well, no sooner than i post this wtb ad, I found a tm gapr mid locally on craigslist. Its a bit smaller than the ping crossover so we'll see how it plays. Hopefully it's easy to hit but we'll see. Still would like an i500 3 iron though or gapr lo...

I was watching a TXG thing about the i500 irons. They found, through having the lefty hitting that he would be better with power spec on the i500’s. He said that was completely the opposite as he would have thought for himself. He was thinking he needed “retro spec” due to loft. The retro spec was too high and spinny. With his club head speed he was able to hit all his optimal numbers with power spec. Check it out on you tube. After watching it, I’d be looking into power spec myself.

I would agree due to the high launch. If i were to go all ping, I'd go with a combo set of iblades and i500, but would likely need two 6 irons due to the stronger lofts of the i500. If you are considering the i500, take a look at the dynacraft muscle blades. I have a whole set and they are equally good in my opinion for a fraction of the cost.

By the time I buy anything else it’ll be a couple years at least. i500’s will be $200🙄
