Sparky Well, courses are open again. But I'm scared. Not hit a ball in 2 months. I'll have to walk right to the 1st tee and let 'er rip. Meanwhile, during the lockdown, I've purchased two new drivers, new wedges, two new putters. So I am going to go out there, play horribly, and of course, it will be because all of these clubs are no good. New purchases will be required. I'm not sure my Paypal account is ready for this. I am scared.
Eguller Sparky So I am going to go out there, play horribly Yeah, but you are in the fresh air and that 'one great shot' will make you smile and bring you back.
LogicalOne Sparky I’m in the same position as you except it’s been more like 10 months since I’ve hit a ball (and hardly golfed much in general over the past several years). I’m actually pretty nervous as well but years ago when I played and had a lot of fun, my practice was on the golf course, so in a way, I’m looking forward to it.
sdandrea1 Dive in head first Sparky. RIP the tape off quickly. Rub some dirt on it. Have fun, man! Remember, don't give a shit what you shoot, just enjoy hitting it again!
ptjn1201 I had the same fears, though I had only gone about 3 weeks between hitting balls. I played the back 9 alone twice on the course where I started working. This week, I'm now ready to embarrass myself in front of others.
KCee Par4QC We can never play together. That depends. Do you miss left or right or both? I'm like Trump and have all the best misses.
johnnydoom I've gone out twice and played. Other than the cart and the ground I walked on I didn't really need to touch anything that wasn't mine or to get very close to anyone that wasn't my household family that I was playing with. I prepaid online and the tee times were 15 minutes apart. I have not played well, but that is my new normal in that I have not established any routine of practicing and playing regularly in many years. I have enjoyed the time out with my family and (usually) out driving that punk son of mine🙂.
Par4QC I'm having trouble finding a course that is following the rules. I just tried to make a reservation at what I thought was the perfect, out of the way course, only to find out I have to go in the clubhouse to sign in and pay. And now with people not working, they are getting a lot of play, so there will be a lot of cooties 😁 on those doors and in the clubhouse. Thinking of my next move. No hurry, it's only been 7 months since I swung a club.
sdandrea1 Par4QC And now with people not working, they are getting a lot of play, so there will be a lot of cooties 😁 on those doors and in the clubhouse. Thinking of my next move This is why I wear a mask into the clubhouse and keep bleach wipes and hand sanitizer in my golf bag.
Typhoon Par4QC For God sakes, wear a mask and gloves when you go in the pro shop to pay. Or wear just a mask and when you exit the pro shop. Grab a wipe and wipe off your hands. I doubt there are people just hanging in the shop. There will be one at a time. They will have wipes or sanitizer to wash off when you leave. Plenty of people are doing this. There’s being careful which you do but you’re gonna end up in a rubber room.
KCee sdandrea1 Me too. I have 3-4 masks in my car, rubber gloves, hand sanitizer and wipes. I just need a crossbow and a few other things and I'm also ready for the zombie apocalypse.
mulegolf I've played twice so far before the weather got cold again. I was able to pay by calling in and giving them my credit card info but had to go to a window at the course and sign the receipt for them. Both places let me bring my own cart if I paid the same fee as using their cart. I was happy to do it instead of using their cart that I had no idea how well it had been cleaned. Yup, I played like crap but it felt good to be out there swinging the club again.
Par4QC KCee Actually, I was getting really good last season. My main miss was straight down the fairway. So it seemed. 🤣
meagain No need for me to go near the club house. I just walk across the road and play 13, 14,15,2,3,4,5,6. Eight holes and back home again. Or 7,8, 2, 3, 4, 5 6. 7 holes, back home. Or 7,12,13,14 15,2,3,4,5,6. 10 holes. Live directly across from #6 green.
KCee Par4QC We would never even see each other! Plus if I do hit a fairway I'm almost guaranteed to hit the next shot into the woods, or pond, or parking lot or wherever is a really bad place to be.
Par4QC Typhoon You sound like my cousin Tony. When we were growing up, you did not want to go to the river with him. 1st thing he'd say is you need to know how to swim. 2nd thing he'd say was....here ya go!! And with that, he threw your ass in.
Par4QC Typhoon 😂 My cousin Tony was nuts....you think I ever went to that river with him??? btw....he never drowned anyone. And they all learned to swim.
