I have a 16 year old son and sometimes he asks me to recommend movies from my younger days. So in the past month we've watched:
Dirty Harry - Police action with Clint Eastwood. He liked it quite a bit, I've always liked it. Characters are not realistic, but portrayals are quite believable.
Tommy Boy - Chris Farley, David Spade - I don't remember not liking this movie, but neither of us were very impressed. The last 15 minutes made the watch worthwhile. Watching Rob Lowe get the crap beat out of him in almost every scene he was in was good physical humor.
Up in Smoke - Cheech and Chong. Thought this was going to be stupid, and it was. But it was just as funny to a 57 year old sober me as it was to a 25 year old drunk me the first time I saw it. Both of us thought it was funny, quite a bit more than Tommy Boy.
Lethal Weapon - Mel Gibson, Danny Glover. Police odd couple buddy action flick Good mix of drama and comedy with over-the-top action. We both enjoyed it.
Unforgiven - Clint Eastwood. Very dark and compelling Western. Almost all characters in the movie are very flawed people. One of my favorite movies and my son said one of the best he's seen.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - Clint Eastwood old classic western. Son wanted to see Eastwood's old western stuff. Both enjoyed it quite a bit but agreed that it is too long. The length has some well finished, but not overly compelling side plots.
We didn't watch it recently, but my son's favorite "old movie" so far is Die Hard. Love to dig up Zulu and The Bridge on the River Kwai when available, but haven't seen them in ages. Anyone watching older movies, or is everyone else mostly into binge watching series?
