Typhoon I’d love to get my shutters down to repaint or replace but the ones on the side of the house are too high up. Plus, since they have never been down I can only see myself snapping the screws off.
I got tired of painting my old wooden shutters and replaced them with some plastic/composite ones. I ordered them from a local builders supply house. They custom make what your want in a color of your choice. All you have to do is drill a 1/4" hole and hammer in a color matched plastic barbed peg. Mine went into brick so I bought a $29 hammer drill from Harbor Freight. Easy to install and after 15 years they look like new. They weren't cheap but well worth it.
