Boring times so maybe a highlight or 2. Usual hour workout at 9 am. Went out and swing the Superspeed clubs and my driver .

I will be watching the Vikings game, drinking a few cocoa stouts, then hit some golf balls in the garage (and video my swing). Probably grill later as well.

I got lazy yesterday and overdosed on football. So between morning and evening church today I went ahead and put the ProSoft inserts into the Alpha C1-Pro irons and changed the grips to Dri-Tac LT. Maybe I’ll be able to use the steel shafts with less pain now.

The last of four days of ball-spotting at the Scottish Open for me today - mostly pretty straightforward, although we did have a couple of the guys trying really hard to lose their golf balls (none succeeded, though!) A little incident on the last shot of the day - the player hit a bad shot and slammed his fairway wood into the ground, and ended having to pick up the clubhead and 8 inches or so of shaft from about 40 yards away...

So I got to do a little video of my swing and the good thing is at 50 I am basically Gumby. 😂. My swing works for what I need it to do and I’m good with that. 👍

However, I can’t resist taking a beating from you all, so have at it! 😂

Spuzz The usual miss is a high push/fade. Every once in awhile, if my weight doesn’t get back over, I pull it (usually toward the toe as well).

To me, that's not a surprise, because you have a long re-route back to the ball.
If you got the shaft pointed at your target at the top, I bet you would be straighter and more consistent.

Also, if you look at Daly's picture, he has his eyes and chin pointed at the ball.
You have your left cheek/ear pointed at the ball at the same point.
At 7 seconds you have a little head twitch to the right away from the ball.
Fix that up too and you are ready for long drive

Spuzz Completely agree with you. I’m very much a feel player and this past week I tried to slow the backswing down and get a feel for where that stopping point is. Now that I’m videoing, it will be a bit easier.

long is ok if you can get back to the ball on time although I think it isn't giving you that much extra length and is affecting accuracy and consistency.
my swing was similar 20 years ago, so I know a bit about it.
if your swing speed is up there, as I suspect it is, you don't need that extra part of the backswing, for regular rounds.

Looks good, hopefully you can keep up the long swing. At 60 I still have the overly long backswing as well.

I'm 54 and I'm not sure a long backswing ever goes away. My swing thought is 3/4 swing and I still look like Daly.

I usually do not hit the ball with my backswing, since shortening
up my backswing I am finding more fairways and no loss of distance.

A long backswing is only good if it’s the result of a big shoulder turn. If the shoulders stop turning and the club keeps going it’s not giving you anything else, it’s just your wrists dropping the club and then accuracy goes out the window.

You got it right, if your swing is shorter, it’s probably where you stop turning.... Perfect!!
