Walterjn are they modified enough that there is no patent infringement?? Do these modifications actually improve the design? Or are they extraneous and crap?
I have to assume they are necessary modifications to fit their application, but they are relatively minor and more about mounting the sensor. Despite the clearance, they are staying fairly hush hush about the details of where it will be used. But it is our sensor and they have our part number on their drawing. They did not list anything proprietary of ours on it so it's really just a reference to our product and its specs. I just find it funny that I had to jump through hoops to see a drawing with nothing DoD sensitive that references our own product.
No one ever charges the gov't or Primes for a salesperson's time, but at my old company a Program Manager would have handle the security exchange and the Prime would have been billed accordingly. This is partly why some stuff costs so much. They save some money with Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) product but then inflate it with mostly wasted paperwork.
