Thanks guys. Mom was told that if his BP drops that they would send him to the big hospital 40 miles away in the middle of the night, and call her. No word last night so we're taking that as good news. A family friend is a doctor there and he has been checking in on my dad starting last night.

Bravopilot How long does this effort take?

Too long. Where they are jack hammering this morning it appears that they hit rock at about 5' and have to go to 20'. They don't get off the pavement so they have to hammer then change from hammer to scoop many times. I am sitting at my desk in the basement about 50' from the street and can hardly hear the TV 5' away. I live on a corner and once they get to the other side of my yard they will have to replace the manhole structure at the 4 way intersection which will take weeks. I heard that they are two months behind schedule due to the rock. They are taking out the old sewer main which is at 8' and replacing a new one at 20' to eliminate a pump station. They plugged the main at our intersection and have a huge hose pumping to the next manhole and running two diesel pumps 24/7 which you can hear droning inside the house. They had public hearings on this project before they started but never mentioned the noise factor. Our neighborhood is mostly retired geezers like us who are at home most of the time. There is no escape. All have full block basements and built in the 60's so most basements are finished. Our biggest concern is foundation damage from the hammering. And it will be difficult to determine until some water leakage begins. What a potential nightmare. Do I sound like a grumpy old fart. Damn right. I can't even tell them to get off my grass since they aren't getting off of the street. They have been working on this since early last summer and have progressed about 1,100 ft and have about 1,700 ft. to go. My neighbor across the street gets bent over twice as they go passed the front of his house and up the street on his side yard passing his new 6 month old concrete driveway. I think I need to pack up the wife and dog and go visit PapaD for a few months.

We have one course that stays open all year round, as long as there's no snow on the ground. Surprisingly,
it stays in pretty good shape, and the greens even rolled pretty smooth today. They have three nines, so I
think they close one for a week or two at a time to rest it, I guess. I've heard lately that a couple
of more are thinking about opening early if the weather allows it.

Par4QC they won't be opening anytime soon around here although I suspect I could have found somewhere to play.....it was windy as hell however. Cold/er for the next two days (with snow today) and then back to more seasonal temps for the next few weeks!

Walterjn I started to refinish a book case I've had for a few years now. It used to belong to an ex girlfriend's grandmother, we're still friends. She moved and told me that I could have it again. I have actually refinished this thing once before, then she decided that she wanted it back...

Maybe she just wanted it refinished again. When you're done doing that she'll want it back again.... 😈

They do watch the weather around here closely, and some will open early, but not more than a week or so. I've never had a complaint(iirc) of any course around here, like others on this forum do, about rough/greens/fw not being 'up to snuff' during the season. Like us, they all need an R&R period/vacation every year and the courses here give it to them. I'd rather wait and be able to play really nice courses, than play all year on crap. YMMV

Weather is going to get me before I'm done. Raining today/tonight, then Thursday we are looking at a winter storm watch, then back into the 50's a couple days after. Damned crazy weather/winter.

Sitting here listening to the constant ram hoe pounding from the crew replacing the sewer main in our street. They got past our connection to the old main yesterday and anything coming out of our pipe just goes into the open trench until they get the new main in and connection made. I am going to float them a "hurry up message" down the line this morning. 💩

Little warm spell here. Went to the range at the club yesterday. Gonna go today as well. Working now, lovely 2 hour ride to my first stop🙄. Gym later on.
