I’m going to say something that may sound corny. The last time I served on a jury a few years ago the judge said something that resonated with me.
Paraphrasing. He said, ‘this country doesn’t ask much of its citizens. Second to serving in the military serving on a jury isn’t that much to ask of its citizens.’ Basically a civic duty.
When he said that I literally had goose bumps. Corny maybe, but it made sense to me. That said, if anyone doesn’t want to serve on a jury, don’t volunteer any answers in the juror voir doir once in the court room. That may help reduce your chances.
