I spent most of the day trying to get my cell phone transferred to a personal account.
My phone was through my work, For the last year and a half, it remained on the corporate account, I just sent them a check every six months. Now that my wife has also retired (her service was also through her work) it was time to get our numbers moved to a personal account.
We want to have T-Mobile. My phone was Sprint. Since they're the same company it should be easy, right?
Yesterday we went down to the T-Mobile store and they told me I'd need to call Sprint customer service to get the account released. So this morning I call Sprint and explain what I want to do and the woman says she just needs to cancel my number but the service will remain in place until the end of the billing cycle (July 18). Great! So while I'm on hold while she makes the changes the call disconnects and I get a message that my sim card is not on a network. Arrggh!
So I get my wife's phone and call back and explained what happened. The agent I talked to said she kept getting a error message as she tried to reinstate my phone number. This went on for 40 minutes. Finally after almost an hour the issue was fixed and my phone worked again, She also said I was good to go and I could go to the T-Mobile store to port over my number.
So we went back to the T-Mobile store and they said they couldn't do it without a certain form being completed. So back home and on the phone with Sprint. The agent I talked to directed me to the form but then said I needed to talk to another department. After getting transferred, I learned that I didn't need to go there but just complete the online form.
AS I read the fine print, I realized the form needed to be completed by my former employer, not me. Not a big deal, but more incorrect info and another step. So I contacted them and am now waiting for Sprint to process the form.
I also managed to get a 2.5 mile walk in and attend my monthly homebrew club meeting,
Golf tomorrow!
