Rickochet im so very sorry to hear that. It really sucks, and im sorry for your loss.
Personally, I've almost always had a harder time losing a pet, than I have losing people. I like critters more than i do 99% of humankind. I dont know what its like to lose ones wife and life partner; as I've never had one, however in my mind that has to be at least as tough as losing one's trusted and loving dog.
