Starting the generator always involves keeping my fingers crossed. I put gas in it with stabilizer 8 years ago. Got it from my BIL who had 3 and had no room for this one. Wasn’t sure he was giving me it or wanted me to store it.
I don’t let him in the garage since he was in there a few years ago and said “oh, I forgot the generator was there, I’ll have to grab that”. Now it’s covered and he’s not allowed in the garage.
So it took many pulls and a little fresh gas to add in, was about to give up and heard a puff. Next pull it started. Dark exhaust for a minute but I worked it and it’s fine. Let it run 10 minutes. It powers the whole house. This summer I’ll drain it, change the oil etc…. Show it some love. It’s a beast.
