Vacation day/s. Won't be working much this week or next. Weather will be good enough to golf (tomorrow could be an exception, but I will find something openš¤
Today I played an old favorite that I have not been to in a few years. Washington County, an Arthur Hills design and probably the best muni in the state. Post COVID it's been jammed and they dont stay open late like they used to pre-covid. I looked at the t sheet last night and saw times and said f it and made the drive. This is a wonderful course that is so much fun to play. You can see most all of the course from the clubhouse. Quite a bit of elevation change and movement of the tee with some hard learners and semi blind shots. It's links in style and look with sculpted fairways and longer grass breaking up the holes. The greens, although not a ton of slope have some nice contouring and are tricky to read look like it break one way from behind the ball and from the other side of the hole.
Had three birds, I will hilite #12 which is my favorite hole, a long par 4 that leans hard right semi blind tee shot, up a gentle hill and then back down to the fgreen. Big bunker complex left side of the fairway to catch balls that run out or don't cut/fade to suit the shape of the hole. One can just bomb and try to cut the angle but if you push it it's in the longer grass and may be hard to find or be a crap lie. There is enough rough to catch a semi push. I hit a solid drive just right of the bunkers and had 186 to a back pin. This hole allows for a run up and plays VERY firm. I've learned over time to either land on or if not able to take one club less and run up as it really bounds up. Hit a beautiful 4 fdi just left of it that ran up to about 6 feet and snuck in a gentle left to brighter on the right side of the hole.
