Possibly. From my readings/understanding, the shots are only about 70% effective, for 40% of those getting them. Vegas would love people betting on things, with those numbers.

The percentages I mentioned were for the shingles vac not the flu.

Rickochet The % I mentioned are for flu vaccines. Probably why your friend quite possibly did have the flu, after getting the shot. 1000's do, it's just less severe.

My research indicates that due to the flu shot my immune system kicked into high gear and over responded - chills, aches, fatigue, etc.
The doctor agreed. Just a little unusual as I’ve never had a previous reaction to the shot. YMMV.

I can’t remember if I had a reaction to it before. Who knows, every year it’s a little different anyway. Don’t know if I got the “senior” one at 60 but who knows. It’s weird that you get flu like symptoms from the flu shot.

Over 65 individuals automatically get the 'senior' version which is a bit more potent. The flu like symptoms
are your immune system in high gear. That is a good thing that it is that strong. Just not pleasant to go through.

My wife who is 70 went to get hers two weeks ago and was told they were out of the Sr. vac and didn't know when they would get more so she got the normal version.

I have been tested twice now but thankfully results came back within 48 hours. Wearing a mask in the house and staying in a separate part of it, constantly wiping everything ( even for just 2 days) Was a PITA. Hope your findings come back negative and quickly
