So... my neighbor across the street has a son... for as long as I can remember, this kid would be playing hoops out in his driveway. He loves basketball... played all four years in HS and started, being the captain his final two years. Very good player, a shooting guard. Got a scholarship to play for a local college. Full ride. Great story, great kid, good parents.
So I see him outside shooting hoops in his driveway this afternoon. I yelled over at him, "Sam, you watch the thing on Jordan last night?" He said, "Heck yeah! Loved it!" So we continue our conversation, and he tells me, "Well, obviously I never got to see him play, he was before my time. And LeBron is probably my favorite, because naturally I've followed him most of my life. But I've watched soooo much stuff on YouTube about Jordan over the years, it was kinda like I did get to see him play but not really. But this series is AWESOME!"
Then he goes on to tell me, "Yeah, my mom and dad wanted to watch it with me, all of us together. But they started talking and yacking and I decided to go up in my bedroom and watch it in peace, by myself. I loved it!"
Like most college kids he's home because of COVID-19. But it was kinda neat to hear the younger hoops generation that never watched him play, never watched that style of basketball, really into it. I told him we got to see him play in-person a few times and he was in complete awe.
Neat experience.
