Though you do not hear much about it anymore in golf and I am not sure it applies in this case, is "The Grey Market". It is companies that under the counter buys goods they typically could not get and then sells them. Even some manufacturers dabble in it. An example is they will have a product they claim is for their authorized US dealers only. Then they will ship a large order to a country that they do not have such agreements but the catch is the order never even left the US. It was labeled DO NOT FORWARD HOLD FOR PICKUP. The grey marketer then picked it up.
Another version was buy the leftover stuff a pro shop could not sell nor return.
Years back I knew a PGA Pro that owned a small 9 hole golf club in OH. At one time he was the largest purchaser of a brand of golf balls that were Pro Shop only. He was turning them out the back door to a large discount chain based in OH. He made a killing. Everyome knew it but nobody would publicly say anything.
