Some of you may remember jnolan from the old FGI days. Baaab used to play with him a lot when he lived in Salt Lake City. During that time I went out there with him, his cousin, persimmon, and a few others (gammapi, fuzzy, and others who I cannot recall their handles).

Well, I got a return invite to fill out the foursome with his cousin's dad was visiting from Ireland (jnolan's uncle). It had been five years since I had been there and its grown a bit. A new par 3 course, an extremely large putting green (the punchbowl), and it was busier than ever.

The golf is as fantastic as you may have heard. Ocean courses, traditional turf grasses, and no carts (you're walking). What an enjoyable weekend (other than my putting). Got to play Pacific Dunes twice, Old MacDonald twice, and Bandon Dunes once. We were just too tired to play the par 3 course, Bandon Preserve, nor did we bother with Bandon Trails - a fine course, but just not the reason we go there.

Dermot even brought us some etched ('Bandon Dunes 2016') Galway crystal glasses straight from Ireland to remember our trip by. A fantastic gesture.

And I think I've found out its true - you can play too much golf. I went straight here after Desert Storm and my hip is barking at me right now. 15 days of golf with 4 days of 36 holes - yesterday's 36 is what did my hip in (a nerve issue I believe, as Aleve and Jameson had no affect 😃 ).

My opinion though - if you want to go, I'd go at times other than the peak season. Its extremely expensive right now, but they wanted to treat their dad/uncle to a trip. The weather is more of a risk in November/December, or February/March, or whenever its cheaper - but its really not that bad as long as its not a downpour.

Beautiful.... it's on the list of dream vacations!

you're an ironman! 36 on back to back days at DS about killed me. beautiful pics though.

hobbit 15 days of golf with 4 days of 36 holes

Holy cricket ! And all walking in the last few days.

I'd need a massage after each day's golfing.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pics. I'll need to go back once more ..... maybe after all my kids are out of graduate school.

Welcome back. Great pics of a phenomenal piece of property. There is nowhere else I'd rather return to for a guys' golf trip. But, I could never handle that many holes over that time span, even in my prime, and especially considering the massive alcohol consumption that undoubtedly was forced upon you. For all that, I bow to your greatness.

Get rested, mend that hip, and prepare to surrender your hard earned cash to "my" envelope next weekend.

      Gammapi

Not back yet, but that envelope of 'yours' is on borrowed time. Once my putting returns, you're toast!!

36 hole a day there walking and I'd need more than Aleve and Jamison.....

      Nice Pics!!!

Sounds like a great trip. Thanks for sharing

Beaut pics Rick. Looks like alot of fun!

Ahh, brings back the memories of my trip there in August 2015. With a wife and kids that do not golf, golf vacations do not happen to me....but last year I was working a job for a company in Corvallis, and they needed me onsite for two weeks. I needed something to do over the weekend. Brutally expensive in August as you state, but I don't regret it one bit.

        Great Pics Rick,

One of the great pure golf getaways there is. Especially if you can't afford Scotland or Ireland, then Bandon with all its quality courses have to be right up there. I hope to go there in the next few years again now that Old McDonald is open and the par 3 course. great pictures Rick. I take it the greens were speedy ??

Cool trip! I'm fairly certain I went to Bandon Dunes the first time jnolan and Permission went many years ago 🙂 It was such a great deal. $300 for 2 rounds of golf, 2 nights, 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts.
