Tinker Why pay for housing? We have a little tent community here, located in a parking lot for the beach. The charity groups fight each other to see who can provide them free meals and any supplies they need. The vagrants get their little signs on the street corners and get easy cash. Then the drug dealers meet them at their beachfront tent city to give them something to do with the cash.
Just before this started, a small home tract was developed just across the street, including a beautiful little park with a nice playground. When the sheriffs told the tent community that they couldn't live in the parking lot, but they had an alternative city lot 500 yards away from the beach in an unused city lot. All of the vagrants then moved into the community park as they didn't want the city lot which had rules. Families would go to the park and find drugs everywhere. The city had to close the park and fence it off. It was declared a HazMat site, and had to be stripped to bare dirt. The park was less than 2 years old.
