garyt1957 do you live in a snow belt? If so, Subaru gets my vote. Otherwise, the Toyota suggestions are good. Might I suggest you run your options by your insurance provider, if your state requires insurance. Certain cars like Honda Civics are prone to theft, where I live so, while a good car, it runs a premium for insurance.
Just a couple things to consider. You may want to look at the maintenance schedule and costs too as another consideration.
Last but not least, tires aren’t the cheapest things in the world, so the higher the car’s rim size , the more expensive the tires.
