mikeintopeka Totally agree. It is really unfortunate that we have to use surveillance to protect our property, but it seems to increasingly be the case (at least it is in my area). But the potential for abuse or alternative uses is really scary.
As I was mentioning, according to an interview I was listening to on CBC, there is a city in China where a new surveillance system is being tested. It uses AI and facial recognition to watch people. When people do "good deeds," as defined by the government, they receive credits. These credits open up different benefits, including better housing, food, and career options. People who act in a way that is deemed "bad/subversive" receive demerits. As these are incurred, people can be fined and/or lose housing, food, and career options. Get enough demerits and you are sent for "re-education."
