The Cherry comments, in my view, require a nuanced deciphering. This was not racism in any way shape or form.
Here's how this is different from racism.
If Don Cherry said brown people are only half the people us whites are that would be racist. Everyone but a racist would agree that would be a racist statement diminishing one race and lifting up another.
Cherry said "you people". Does anyone even those indicted in "you people" disagree people who reap benefits of freedom provided by the military should take them for granted and not show support? No. Nobody thinks that way. Nobody was slammed or put down so another could claim superiority.
The difference is in racism there is no disputing what was said was racist. There is no disputing that what Cherry said was right. People should be thankful. He should've said EVERYONE but that singling out of ANY group doesn't make what he said wrong. It's still right. Had he said you white people need to support the military and buy a poppy he'd still be right. White people should...so should immigrants.
The feigned outrage to his comments are classic. Some of these fake outragers have gone so far to claim that Don Cherry is the reason they aren't someone in broadcasting because his words killed her "dream", Many of these fake outragers love to use the term "boomer" in a derisive and pejorative sense. These fake outragers preach inclusiveness while using age-related discriminatory terms like "boomer". The irony and hypocrisy is almost too much for me.
