2020 Ryder Cup Tickets

I entered the volunteer lottery for the 2020 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits, which I would have jumped at, but got flushed. Now I've received a code for a "potential" opportunity to purchase tickets tomorrow. I've been telling friends and family that I won't attend because of the concentrated crowds, and being nearly as vertically challenged as a locally known @hobbit I won't be able to see much. But then my alter ego loudly whispers, "When will you ever have this chance!?!"

If I make the lottery cut, I'll be eligible to purchase up to 2 event-long packages or 4 tickets total for the actual matches, plus/or 4 tickets for each practice day. https://attend.rydercup.com/random-selection/faqs/#ticket-pricing

Two questions of the GolfBuzz community to help me off the fence:

Would you go if you have the chance? (BTW- we have a family place near Kohler, so lodging is free.)
If not, how difficult/risky would it be to sell the tickets?

No-does not appeal to me and I've played the course several times. Unique place to play and see (but the Ryder Cup is not it).

Not likely.....but the back up plan could be to just end up going!

I'm in the lottery, and will be on the web tomorrow. We already have a timeshare reserved in Sheboygan for the week. We're going even if we have to buy from scalpers.

sdandrea1 - Tickets were ample when I attended the RC @ Valhalla in Louisville in 2008. I actually bought a package on Groupon that included the VIP tent for two at about the same price as for the general admission ticket cost alone printed on the ducats. Another couple of friends from Indianapolis that we met with there bought a pair of tickets while waiting for their shuttle to the course in the parking lot at Churchill Downs. Not only did they get a bargain, but the tickets also included passes to ESPN's corporate tent!

Keep your eyes open and check local sources before arriving if you don't have tickets in hand.

42 minutes in line and all of the Fri, Sat & Sun Match and Season Grounds tickets are already gone.

Gammapi that's what I heard......coworker of mine, her hubby, adult kids, all got thru to this phase but none got picked for tickets, one of their daughters boyfriend's did but all weekend tix were gone and only practice rounds remain by the time he looked. I suspect ticket brokers will have an abundance as well as many scalpers!

I said the same thing, out loud, very loudly. I'm passing on practice day tickets. Too much hassle to resell, and I've played WS enough times that I don't need to see it in person.

Steve- let me know if you want restaurant recommendations and such. We've been going up there for 40+ years.

my turn came up to buy at the 1 hour, 17 minute mark and everything was sold out except Tues, Wed practice rounds.

the site I was on limited ticket purchases to 4....not sure how resellers would get bundles.

sdandrea1 , yes, ticket purchases are/were very limited to 4 at a time, or only 2 of the week-long passes. That would make it pretty difficult for the brokers to grab large blocks. But, I'm continually surprised and appalled at how people take advantage of loopholes. I would expect that there will be resale tickets available from some of the sponsors, like in the case of @mikeintopeka and the ESPN corp tent.

Do you guys think non-transferable tickets would be good for these highly desirable golf tournaments? Imagine if the only people buying Masters tickets were people that would actually go, instead of jerks buying them exclusively to resell them. Better world?

And if within 14 days of the event date you want to cancel, knock yourself out. Others can be on a waiting list to buy those tix and notified when/if they become available.
