Spuzz Yeah, as you and others have said, most players now have more information than they can really take advantage of. Most of the guys in the group I was playing with were 90 - 105 players. When I ask them how far they hit their irons, they usually give me about a 5 -7 yard range, so I'm not sure why they are need to calculate the distance to pin so precisely.
Frankly, I think most average players should just be looking at the centre of green reading anyways. I have a pretty precise idea of how far I hit my irons, so I like to know the exact distance, but lately I have been concentrating more on hitting to centre of greens. While this strategy means that I'm not hitting as many shots tight to flags and getting as many birdie chances, I am hitting a few more greens, which is resulting in more pars.
