I got rid of cable TV. To refresh: I had Spectrum for Internet (100mb), 125 cable stations, and a phone line. This was costing me $168 a month. Since I added Netflix and Amazon Prime TV, I watch very little else. Like to watch local news 6 to 6:30 then national 6:30 to 7:00PM but the over to Netflix or Prime. I sometimes watch local news while getting ready for bed.
My first step was to put Mohu Leaf antennas ($50 each) on my two TV's. Get about 28 channels including the networks, Fox, ETV, etc. Very pleased. Nice clear picture. I did have to play around finding the best place to locate the Mohu, but I got it. One is on the wall high up as I have cathedral ceilings. The other one is on a window pane facing the backyard. Both are a bit noticeable but not a big issue. This ended me need for cable TV.
I bought a Roku Premiere for $50 for my main TV and man oh man, there is so much free stuff on it that I am going crazy figuring what all is there. Loving Roku.
I had originally planned on dumping my home landline and going cell phone only. I called Spectrum to cancel TV, keep Internet, and discuss the landline. I could keep the high speed Internet for $75.00 and for $10.00 more per month, keep the home phone. Thus I now have high speed Internet and home phone for $85.00 per month. Home phone worth it for $10 per month.
I am saving about $83 a month and feel I have more TV than I will ever need.
