Guys,
I know a lot of you buy and use ProSoft inserts. Just a PSA that we are no longer going to carry them, instead we have switched over to a new product called Sting Stopper. All this is a long story, but I want to give you a quick rundown of the difference:
First, the insert itself: It has the same exact properties as a ProSoft (closed cell skin, open cell inside), but it's a little over an inch longer. More material equals more dampening. They are 10 inches long.
Next, the tool: The Prosoft tool was not ideal for a couple of reasons: 1) it was difficult to work with 2) in our experience the best way to install a dampening insert is as far down the shaft as possible - this is what dampens the most vibration. The Prosoft tool installed at a shallow depth. The new tool is much easier to work with.
Lastly, the price: Sting Stopper pricing is exactly the same as ProSoft was. More material, easier tool, same price.
We are going to carry these from now on, and Hireko is launching these too within a couple weeks.
