When I first posted this I didn't go to the top of the thread to see if anyone thought it was wrong to talk about the biggest story in the NFL. The title, itself, says nothing about not posting about AB. When I post, I don't go back and re-read 40 some posts to make sure I'm not posting about a subject someone has dubbed taboo based on personal feelings.
After posting it, I was surprised at the reaction. This post wasn't: Look what Antonio Brown did now. Had nothing to do with what Antonio Brown did. It had everything to do with what the greatest NFL dynasty and best coach in NFL history did today. Nobody heard a single thing about what Antonio Brown did today. Still, it offended for some bizarre reason.
Being considerate of others? I see it the exact opposite way. It's very odd to post a thread about the NFL season and then say within it there's no talk of the biggest story because it offends me. Colin Kaepernick isn't comparable because he was out of the league. AB has been on two different teams this season. He scored a TD vs. Miami last Sunday. It's not like he's been out of the league or is some collusion target of the NFL. He has NFL production in Week 2.
Bill Belichick walked out of his press conference today sick of the questions about him and chose to cut him. The Patriots cut a player who is best at his position in the NFL. Not news because someone finds AB's past antics offensive?
It is like someone starting a 2000 PGA Tour thread but saying no talk of Tiger because that f'er offends me. Never mind he's the biggest story in golf, but someone doesn't like him. I don't like Tiger, but to not talk about him based on someone's feeling is ridiculous.
The creation of this thread was ridiculous. Title it correctly: "White Guys Who Hate Antonio Brown And Want to Pretend He Doesn't Exist" and I would never post in it. Title it about the 2019 NFL Season, and talk about the Patriots decision belongs in it. It is the biggest story of the 2019 NFL season.
This line IS bizarre: "It's not a story about the NFL. It is a story about a very stupid (I'll say it) black man! It has NOTHING to do with football, or any sport."
Go to any sports website and see what the big story was after the Patriots chose to cut Antonio Brown. Biggest story of the season but this thread intimates it's not a story that has to do with "any sport". Asking the jrock to lock it because I posted about what the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS did today is bizarre. A football decision by the best football dynasty and best football coach in history IS a story but, again, I don't have the prejudices.
This was the edict at the top of this thread: The Antonio Brown thread is elsewhere, keep it there. Unless, of course, it is within the context of Patriot games. "Being a complete ass off the field" discussions should go in the other fake (NFL 2019 Season)thread.
My post had NOTHING to do with Antonio Brown being an ass off the field. It was a discussion on the PATRIOTS ORGANIZATIONAL decision. There's zero reason to be offended. I didn't violate the spirit of this thread at all.
