DuanePeterson Basically this ball proportionally enlarges the the shorter course into a full all-club-use facility, providing the same traditional format on a somewhat smaller scale, in half the time.
Providing that pace of play is maintained at a higher level than what is currently being maintained, MAYBE. That would be a very BIG maybe at that. Today, I was part of a foursome playing behind what looked to be another foursome of a coach and 3 students. We were constantly waiting for them to finish the hole. By the time we finished the 8th hole, and get to the 9th tee box we found they were having to wait for another party who was much slower than they were.
Building a small course, and using limited distance balls will only slow play down even more. Is that what we really need? I think that there should be extended distance balls for those who can't hit a normal ball 100 yards, that MIGHT speed pace of play up. Providing that they can then hit the ball straight and not into the rough every time.
Seeing as how extended distance balls are never going to happen, people should be taught to play ready golf.
