fatshot This is an interesting comment for me. I like my SL; I just find them easier and more consistent. But I'm not sure that my success with them isn't more a function of the shorter, consistent shaft length, rather than the fact that they all "feel" the same. Some time back I was thinking that I would rather have a bit higher SW/MOI with my short irons, and I was toying with the idea of adding weights to the heads to make the short-, mid-, and long-irons progressively heavier. I think that would suit my sense of feel better. BUT WAIT! Isn't the solution, then, simply to cut down a "normal," VL iron set to a SL? That would give you a SL set with progressive SW/MOI.
That thought reoccurred to me this weekend when I was playing with a friend of mine. When I went to 1Irons a long while back, he was intrigued with the idea, but was unwilling to fully commit to it. As an experiment, he took an old set of Infinities and had them cut to the same length (disregarding the dire warnings of the builder). He played really well with them, so he decided to jump fully into the SL pool and ordered a set of 1Irons. Again, he played pretty well and liked them, but he never seemed to play as well as with his Infinities. So, I built him a set of Pinhawks. Still no dice. He tried my In1Zones. Nope. Then, four games ago, he went back to his SL Infinities and he's back striking the ball well again.
Who knows?
