Great post! "Scrambling and grinding" is what most of us (except for the excellent ball-strikers, of which I'm NOT) have to do to manage to shoot a halfway decent score. I've been playing this game for about 60 years, and have shot par or better for 18 holes a grand total of THREE times!!! All the rest have been scrambling and grinding, but you're exactly right....It's a helluva lot of fun to shoot a good score no matter how you have to do it. As far as playing the game as a distraction from everyday life, I agree completely.....when I'm on the golf course, I don't think about paying the bills, the argument I had with my wife, chores I have to do when I get home, etc., etc. It's just GOLF, and it's all GOOD!!
