I don't want to crap on your dream, but I really think that tiny houses are more of a fad than a trend. They're kind of like Smart cars, in my mind: They look funky and fun until you actually want to do something functional with them, like get yourself and a partner to the golf course.
Coincidentally, just the other day I read one of those stupid (but oddly compelling) "30 Things..." type lists on the Internet that dealt with this topic. I tried finding it for you, but couldn't (but don't worry, there are countless articles on this topic, such as this one: https://www.thrillist.com/lifestyle/nation/tiny-houses-the-tiny-house-dream-is-actually-a-nightmare). But, then, I'm sure there are countless articles that will tell you how wonderful these "houses" are and how great the lifestyle is.
I find the dream attractive, too, and my wife and I have fantasized about traveling and living full-time in an RV. And I'm sure you can do it; lots of people do. But it took a two week trip in an RV to really bring the dream into focus. The first 10 days were awesome, but EVERYTHING in an RV, particularly a small RV, has its place and you really had to stay focused on getting everything back into its place. It took VERY little time to have small transgressions from this discipline to build up into a frustrating, claustrophobic, inefficient mess! And all that from just leaving the salt and pepper shakers out. (Well, that's where it begins.) I can't imagine having to live like that ALL...THE...TIME.
But, we're all different. Maybe you are a put-it-away-now kinda guy/couple. Kids would be a nightmare.
