Just wondering if anyone on here hits a driver from Hireko. I recently shafted up a 10.5 Acer XF that I got from someone here as part of a larger purchase. I put it on a Graphite Design S Throttle shaft. I love this thing! Not only am I getting a ton of distance out of it, but the sound and feel is unlike anything I have ever hit before. VERY pleasing. While I should just be happy and hit this driver while it still has its mojo, the ho in me is wondering what the newer offerings are like. 🙂
I had an Acer XF (I think) that was a try at a 14* driver. It was fine and my wife plays it now. Nothing wrong with Hireko.
The Acer stuff is really good for the money. I still have Acer XS Thriver, driver, titanium fairways, XB wedges, and a few other clubs laying around somewhere. I also have some Dynacraft stuff too, all good heads.
I never found their drivers to be QUITE as good as the premium components, but certainly not bad stuff. I tend to think they focus on a little more durability than flat out distance. Not that theres anything wrong with that, just my opinion.
Hireko was never a premium component company. In the golden age of component club making, 95 to 05, they where the basic low cost choice. When they bought Ady a raft you could tell the quality difference with the first catalog. Don’t think they ever used the higher grade titanium in their products, strictly 9-6-4.
I loved the copper colored XS model. Sound/feel was awesome, distance was not so awesome.
