I enjoyed "Hands of Stone" very much. I used to go to a lot of closed circuit fights in those days and even saw Leonard fight in Hartford, CT. I will never forget seeing him go close by me into the ring, how little he was. Striking to see how much smaller than how they look on the big screen. Same as actors, I have seen Deniro up close, when filming in Meriden, CT and he was small too. Larger than life characters he played as well as the big screen doing the same for him.
Back to topic. When I saw Duran/Leonard 1, I was for Duran. He was a terrific fighter, tough and even tougher to hit. His strategy and style really made it hard for Leonard in that fight. It was a great win. The second fight, he looked disinterested and perhaps was suffering some with abdominal cramping but Leonard basically frustrated him and took his "macho" veneer away. Sad in a way, cause all who ever saw and watched Duran would never think he would quit for any reason.
