Ok if you could play any ball, what would you use?

I would use AVX because I really like the couple I’ve found.

Reading this brought back great memories of beating the bushes for lost balls. Back in the day, I used to find so many and get to try so many different varieties. Not the same when you have to pay to try.

If I could pick one ball, I'd have TaylorMade fire back up production of the Penta. That would be my ball of choice.

Most of you could probably afford any ball on the market unless you're all cheap bastages like me. I have found that my clubhead speed doesn't make a Prov1x go any farther than Top Flite a D2 Feel. Greenside spin? Premium balls don't seem to help my game. I shot 4 over par on a tough course on Tues with a Maxfli 2-piece ball that was on sale at Dicks.......2 doz for $20. Answer is, I go with whatever is on sale for UNDER $20 doz, MAX.

Couldn't have said it better myself.....as a charter member of the 'cheap bastages' club, I always look for the best price on any of the following balls, which I feel fit my low swing speed game the best: Titleist Truesoft, Callaway Supersoft, or Top Flite D2 Feel. They all work equally well for me. I found a Srixon Soft Feel during a round the other day, wound up finishing my round with it, due to a misguided shot with a Truesoft, and wound up shooting 77 (my best round in a month!). So I may have to shop around for that ball...!

Pro V's hold no particular charm for me.....don't play any better with or without them. If I find a good one, I give it to my younger brother-in-law, who feels he HAS to play one or he's not upholding his image!!!

johnnydoom You do know the ones you bought are legal to play, right? And the price is def OK, if you got them at RBG. That would be my max spending for any ball though.($22/doz.)

I don't really play a ball because of the cheapest price. I play what my game 'likes'. I've tried high $$ balls and they don't give me much more, if anything, over what I use now. I will buy a sleeve of the more pricey balls, now and again, just as a test. I've got a new sleeve of those AVX balls for the next round, but not expecting much from them, over what I have now.(Gamer)
If I lose distance off the tee because of a ball that might spin better on the green, well, I just fucked myself on getting to that green in as few shots as possible. 5 yds. is 5 yds.. May be a whole 'nother club for some of us.

Par4QC Yeah the x-outs will be good. That’s been the first time I’ve noticed Chromesoft x-outs for sale. If RBG keeps selling them I’ll be buying more. Just wanted to hit Aeroburner Pros today. Pretty good ball, but not as long, and no better in any characteristic, as either the Q-Star Tour or Project (a) I’ve played the last couple of weeks.

I understand. There are several I've run into over the years where I loved the feel and many performance characteristics, but couldn't seem to get consistency out of them with my swing for some reason. To be fair, I haven't played the Chromesoft extensively enough (mainly due to price) to know for sure if I'd game it all the time at a lower price. So far, all of my experience with it has been positive, but my loving family members lifted my pile of lostgolfball Truvis before I could put them into regular play this year. They won't touch the white x-outs though, so I'm going to play 3 straight rounds with them and see what I get.

Bridgestone B330 S in the gay blue box would be my choice of the current balls , although there's new versions out now so it's days may be numbered.
Second choice would be TM TP5.

Precept U-Tri, Maxfli Black Max and TM Penta and Lethal, Wilson TX4, Strata Tour Ace of the discontinued ones.

Pro V1x and TM TP5x for me. Both seem longer off the driver for me and feel fine. I love the feel of the Cally Super Soft on irons but I definitely lose distance off the driver with them.

I was watching a Rick Shiels thing on YouTube where he went on he course and played holes using new pro v1 and Refurbished ones. There was no difference.

Typhoon Incorrect, Rick Shields did notice a difference between new and refurbished Pro V's.

I don't get it that people want to buy and play the Pro V balls, and such, the most expensive balls on the market. You are basically financing a company that gives away millions of free balls every year, and money to play them.....to people that make millions of dollars themselves! Play what the Pros play....lol, bullshit. You don't have and never will have a semblance of the Pro game.

Only time I bought ProV was in AZ at Golfsmith and they had "PRACTICE" stamped on them.
I still have a sleeve and I practice my putting with them, as instructed.

Just came from WalMart and they had those, $20/doz., which, if they would help my 'score', I would have bought. Came home with a couple shirts. Not ones the Pros would wear either. The balls are still on their shelf.

One of our local munis sells used balls, much like LGB, and they are mint. Pro V's are only $20/doz.. Have been tempted many times, but never bought any. They do look brand new though.
