Best ball I've used is the Maxfli U6 Tour Soft which is discontinued. They were originally like $44.99 a dozen and when discontinued you could buy 2 for 1 which I did. I only have a few boxes left and posted this week on here if anyone had any to sell or trade for that I'd be interested. 6 piece urethane covered ball that has great distance, feel and plays well on and around the greens.
The second best ball I've played and like (but won't pay the price) is the 2019 Taylor Made Project A golf balls. Not the earlier versions, but the 2019. Same characteristics and play as the Maxfli U6 Soft but in 3 piece and urethane cover. Love them!!
The best bang for the buck for me currently is the Srixon Q Star Tour 2 (2019 version) which I recently purchased 4 dozen shipped/taxes and all for $61. That's less than $16/dozen for a 3 piece urethane covered ball.
I prefer the Maxfli U6 Tour Soft and 2019 Taylor Made Project A balls over the Srixons.
I liked the Maxfli U6 and the Taylor Made Project A better than anything I've tried from the Maxfli U2/3/4s, Cally Supersofts, Chromesofts, Titleist DT Trusofts, Titleist NXT, Taylor Made Project S, Wilson Duos, Srixon Z Star, Srixon Soft Feels, Bridgestone E6, 330 series and the list goes on and on. I won't pay the $ for the Titleist Pro V 1and Pro V1X or other balls that price.
As Pappy (Par4QC) said the Pinnacle Exception was a great ball and a bang for the buck!!
I am 70. Driver swing speed a little over 90 mph but less than 95 mph. I've been shooting mid to high 80s when playing. Best part of my game is putting.
My current #1 bag I'm using has a set of Landon Black custom made Integra Sooo Long Power Bar irons (all the heads are the same size and I love them), regular flex Apollo lite steel shafts tipped to firm with Pro Soft Inserts, midsize grips and a pair of the new Cleveland CBZ wedges 52 and 58. My putter is the small mallet STX 2 with the Black Insert gripped with a 3.0 Super Stroke. (I'm so consistent with it that I have a brand new one put up and they're not expensive).
Driver (my only spurge expensive golf item) is a TM M6 in 12* with an optional Fujikura Pro reg flex shaft. My 3/5 fairways are old, tried and true (have a mint set put back) 2008 TM Tour Burners in regular flex graphite. I've tried newer adjustable models from Cobra, Wilson and others but these just seem to fit me and are the most consistent.
My hybrids are Cobra TWS with factory regular flex shafts. I have the complete set of 1 through 6 but only carry the 4/5/6. I have 2 complete sets of these older Cobra hybrids 1-6 in each set (6 clubs). One is DWS in stiff (although the 6 hybird is in regular flex) and the TWS are in regular with all having the factory Aldila NVS shafts and headcovers. Probably going to sell the stiff flex DWS set 1-6 (all with factory Cobra head covers).
My next purchase would be to find a couple hybrids to fit into my irons loft ranges and that I can hit consistently BUT as long as these old Cobras are working I won't spend the money!
Won't go into my other 2 bags of Wilson D200s regular flex steel and Cobra S3 Lite Flex graphite.
My biggest problem is pitching. I can putt, bump and run but just cannot for the life of me on those 20-40 yard shots over traps, up hills, over water etc have any kind of consistency or height. Nor can I or ever have spun a ball back!! Full stroke with pitch shots I'm good!!
Anyway I'm rambling!! Love this game though and so glad to be over my 8-9 week battle with pneumonia that I've played 9 holes 5 days out of the last 8 days!!! ❤⛳☺🔨
