I played last weekend and my back was sore. Got to the course and I couldn't shift my weight back at all. I'd get a sharp pain in the right glute. I'm thinking I have to withdraw. Being a swing theory nut I rack my brain thinking of a way I can at least swing. I settle on a front foot swing I remember that involves no weight shift Hit a few balls at the range and I'm swinging real easy cause the back is still sore.
I didn't pick up any distance by swinging easy, in fact I lost distance commensurate to the effort I was applying but boy, was I accurate. Came up short on the first few holes cause I just didn't know my numbers but right at the flag. I eventually settled on one to two more clubs depending on other factors, but usually two clubs more.
The problem is you tend to run out of clubs when your hitting 2 more than normal. Luckily I can hit my 5 wood 3 different distances by choking down . Made birdie with a choked down 5 wood from 165 to a couple feet. I had two birdies and missed a couple other chances cause I can't putt.
I'm definitely going to give this another try next time out. I'm hoping to get a practice round in so I can nail down some yardages before playing my next tournament. So for me swinging easy while no gain in distance, might be a gain in accuracy. Oh, and it was much easier on the body. Now I have no idea how much of this is due to the weight forward, no shift swing also.
