PA-PLAYA Getting ready to order a new Larson storm door and a new front porch light from Lowes. Will probably have to have it delivered, but oh well. Gotta get the old one out of there... 18 years of great use and it's served us well, but time for an upgrade.
I replaced my front door storm door about 2 years ago. I got an Anderson from Home Depot. I guess my local Lowes didn't have what I was looking for so I got the Anderson. It is one heavy sumbich, a bit over 100 lbs. Full glass with dual cylinders. I got the matching handle set which I thought at the time was a bit expensive. The nice thing about the handle set is that it has handles in and out (no knobs) and a dead bolt and keyed lock incorporated into it. On the way home from picking it up I stopped by a locksmith and got it re-keyed to fit the rest of my house locks. I really like the deadbolt lock. The door it replaced had the old cheapie flip up latch to lock which was flimsy and on more than one occasion I had to ring the doorbell at 5:00 am for my wife to let me in after accidentally hitting the lock latch on the way out to get the paper. I can't lock myself out anymore and I am more comfortable leaving the inside door open so the pooch can look outside. I am sure the Larson is fine. I am glad I upgraded to a better door than I had been using in the past.
