I bought a fan clutch this last week. Already put it in. I decided that fan shroud removal is a giant pain in the ass. Fan shroud modification is a much easier option. I made one cut in it, removed one of the hold down nuts, and bent the top out of the way. Then I was able to get to the fan clutch with ease. It's not that difficult of a job when you have decent access.
