LBlack14 Par4QC I still don't get the short set. Hybrids are harder to hit. You used to not be able to hit one? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Par4QC LBlack14 I have no game without hybrids now. I'll carry a 7i occasionally, but it's rare to actually hit it. Don't even use the 8i except for short chip shots. I could play well with only the PW, as the only iron in the bag. If I could find a lot of lost yardage off the tee, the whole game would change back. But...…….. 😁
sdandrea1 LBlack14 Hybrids are harder to hit. For now, maybe. Report back when you're pushing 70 years old. 😁
LBlack14 Oh, 12 pak of 16oz Coors Lights, big bottle of Platinum vodka, 2 jugs of cranberry and a pack of chokes. I'll, more likely than not, sleep right here. Softball reunion last night. Lotta wins right there.
Spuzz sdandrea1 Hybrids are harder to hit. For now, maybe. Report back when you're pushing 70 years old. or 40, which is when I started using them for my 4+5 irons...
Par4QC sdandrea1 The thing I'm finding is the problem getting a head with the leading edge that suits me/my swing. Have got rid of many hybrids through the years, but always buy more for trials. I'm now back, again, to the Acer XV heads. My lovely Epic Flash clubs had to go. Had high hopes for them, but unhittable for me.
LogicalOne Spuzz If I would’ve played more golf over the last 12 years, there is no question I would’ve had hybrids in my bag much sooner. I have a couple of Titleist hybrids this year, replacing my 3 & 4 irons and I love those damn things! I don’t even carry a 5 metal. I go from 3 hybrid to 3 metal.
sdandrea1 Par4QC I've had best results with Adams hybrids. I never paid any attention to leading edge, but rather what suits my eye at address. I do have a Callaway 7h (31 degree) that works well.....I think it's an XR.
Par4QC sdandrea1 Adams, imo, ruined the hybrid market for me with those damned thick, long faces, with long, flat leading edges. They make them very hard to hit out of the thick rough around here. And some of the heads are trending towards FW size heads; those are not hybrids.
Spuzz LogicalOne replacing my 3 & 4 irons and 5 iron for me. 5 wood is my go to club. It replaced the 3 iron from Day 1 for me as the old school lofts were about the same (20 degrees) I have always been a good wood player but since I hurt my back ages ago, I find the extra length hurts sometimes, so now I am experimenting with a 20 degree hybrid with a light shaft, at hybrid length. I rarely use my 3 wood unless I am playing a scramble.

I rarely use my 3 wood unless I am playing a scramble. A couple of my buds played the Titleist 816H1 hybrids for years and knocked the snot out of them. There are more like small wood heads and they are rock solid. Pretty cheap on ebay these days. I can hit the 19° about as far as my fairway woods. I also have some old Super Concords in the closet from 3 wood thru 21 wood I think. I seem to be dropping off another longer iron each year. The 6 irons is close to going. I make get the Concords another go.
Spuzz Rickochet The 6 irons is close to going Mine is in and out. My replacement 6 iron hybrid is great out of the rough and fairway bunkers but it goes left sometimes (lie is too upright for me) so it gets timeouts.lol
sdandrea1 I went all in today. Tired of too much club changing and trying to decide what to play. Adding confusion and inconsistency. I ordered a 12 degree Epic Flash driver with the 45g Evenflow 5.0, a Heavenwood same shaft and a BB 5h from Callawaypreowned. Then ordered a new short set of Mavrik Max irons, 55g graphite, 2 degrees up 8 to GW. I have a BB 6h already. Used up all my Birthday and Father's Day gift cards from SWMBO and the kids AND more than $12 out of my account!
Eguller sdandrea1 My jaw just hit the floor. Congrats. You are going to LOVE that Heavenwood ( as well as the other toys ). 😀
Sparky Wow! That is going to make for a great golfing summer, and an even greater fall clearance sale!
