KCee Rickochet The bus drivers are amazing. I was on a huge Mercedes tour bus in Paris in crazy traffic and the he drove it like he was a courier on a bicycle I remember being on a tour bus in Rome heading from airport to hotel. Driver was headed down street that the hotel was on; cars were parked 2 and 3 deep and I thought that there is NO way this bus fits. Driver only took off maybe 6-7 mirrors on his way down the street, but left no scrapes or dents as far as I could tell....it was impressive!
sdandrea1 Excavations at Pompei. It's one thing to realize that a volcano buried the city in 79 AD, but another to behold the effort it has taken to carefully excavate the place and still preserve it. Unbelievable!
johnnydoom sdandrea1 I'm going to eat my way across the country. Eat your heart out! While youβre exploring art from guys that died 500 years ago, and waiting for a 1000 year old building to fall on your head, Iβm eating an authentic Italian lunch near the birth place of Elvis - Tupelo, MS.π
sdandrea1 We saw some 2000 year old bldgs today. I'm gonna send pics to the guy that built my VA house and say "THIS is how you build!"
meagain Weirfan how do you think he affords to travel to Italy He made his wife sell "her" beautiful Corvette!
sdandrea1 meagain He made his wife sell "her" beautiful Corvette! NOBODY makes my wife do anything, especially me. She spent the Vette money on a Mercedes. π
Rickochet Amazing pics Steve, thanks for sharing. The Colosseum is amazing. Hard to believe people would go there to watch gladiators and lions having lunch.
sdandrea1 FauxAmish Amavi means I loved So. I came, I saw, I loved. I know, I translated it. My response was I came, I saw, I ate. π
sdandrea1 Roman aqueduct from 500 B.C. Good gawd, it's still standing. That's some serious brick and mortar.
Rickochet FauxAmish Well, you can now see what 6 years of Latin got me. π€‘ You can't speak it any better than Dan Quayle. π
ptjn1201 They knew how to build back then. It's amazing what they could do with pretty much just manpower, beasts of burden, wheels, and levers. These baseball stadiums nowadays, they take them down after 20-25 years.
sdandrea1 ptjn1201 These arches are all cement blocks or rocks or brick, all with mortar. There's no metal forms in there. They're all perfect radii too. Amazing.
