garyt1957 Have you built one of these before? If not, the most important thing is to use a softer shaft. If you normally use an S flex you probably need a light weight A flex for this one other wise the light head will not load the shaft. Also make it plenty long. I play my 175's at 47.5". Good luck.

Rickochet I have two or three DTG 175 but I'm not turning loose of any of them. I am actually reshafting one to put back in the bag next week.

What length are you playing it at? I think I'll start with the full 48". Do you play one flex less as recommended? I play R in irons and S in driver so I'm hoping the R flex shaft I have will work.

Yes, I've built them before and used a senior shaft, going to try R this time simply because I already have one. If not, I'll go and get an A flex. I have a 45 gram DTG UL shaft, no idea how these play.

I replied but then deleted it not wanting to butt in whatever you were building but I have restored it. I have the DT FGS UL 45 in an A flex in the two I have shafted and they play well. I was playing an R flex when I built these a few years ago. I played another DT 45G shaft but didn't like it as well. I hit these well for about 2 seasons and everything in my game went south. I got away from these and never got back to them. Now at age 69 with my driver distance dropping I am going to try them again. I may have to drop to an L flex, we shall see. I have developed a liking for the Titleist 816h1 hybrids that have the Diamana shafts in them. I recently snagged a Cally GGB Epic driver the has a Diamana "light" flex 40g shaft that is too whippy in that head. I am going to extend it and try it in the 175. Film at 11.... I don't know if you were a member of FGI and remember Bernie Baymiller aka Longstick. He was a big proponent of long and light for seniors. Good luck with your project.

yea, I remember Longstick. He was the original espouser of long drivers but that was even before the really light heads.

I did a quick search for his name and obits today and found one for Bernie Baymiller, 84 in the Knoxville area from April 2018 which I am sure was his. RIP Longstick.

Thanks Rex. Bernie lived in Tellico Village, so that was Longstick.

Bernie was also involved with Dan Neubecker in the development of the various Neufinders. Bernie and I emailed quite a bit when I was build my NF2 which I still use.

BTW, I regripped my DTG 175/FGS UL 45 and have it in da bag for a round today. Even at 12° I hit low rockets that run like a rabbit. When I first put it in the bag years ago it immediately gave me 30 extra yards with good control. I hope it still has some poon left in it. 😛

Rickochet Wow, 12 huh? doesn't the longer shaft tend to make the ball go higher? I hope 9.5 is enough for me

I built an NF2 and NF4 upgraded that one to a NF9.

Yep, it was Dan. You sent me pics of your NF's and they are very nice. I had plans for the newer ones but never pursued them.

Off to the golf course. I hope I smack some good ones for Bernie.

I've played a few rounds with Pappy. He is one of the few people I have played with that, noticeably, has a positive angle of attack with the driver. I get what he's saying.

One of my friends plays his driver at 46.5” long and a 6 head. If I had to guess his AoA is around 6+

Uses 4” tees and barely sticks them in the ground.
